A Bible Prophecy Revolution is Taking Place

By Rodrigo Silva

For the past decade many voices in the field of eschatology and Bible prophecy have in the midst of much opposition been proclaiming that Islam is the system that will bring the Antichrist to power in the last days. Voices like Walid Shoebat, Joel Richardson, John Preacher, Dave Watchman, Perry Stone and many others have been warning the church in America that the beast system of the Antichrist is being formed before our eyes. Traditional interpretation of end time prophecy has for the past century caused Christians to look at the European Common Market (ECM) as the beast of Revelation. The ECM is nothing more than an economic partnership between the nations of Europe, yet many who claim to be prophecy scholars point to the European Union as the fulfillment of Bible Prophecy. The voices that have been warning the church that the ECM cannot be the beast kingdom of the Antichrist have for the past decade faced much opposition from those who refuse to see the rise of Isalmic fundamentalism which seeks to revive the Islamic Caliphate as the Antichrist system. Those who oppose this interpretation claim that this is a new idea that should be discarded as false teaching. To the uninformed Christian, this might sound plausible but is it true? There were voices as far as eighty years ago who were already proclaiming the return of Islam in the end times as the system of the Antichrist.

In 1956, author Geoffrey King wrote the following:

‘’. . . it is a very slander foundation for saying that the reign of the Antichrist is going to be on the lines of the old Roman Empire and that the Antichrist is going to be a Roman emperor. No! No! . . . You keep your eye today upon what is called ‘’The Moslem Belt,’’ from Morocco right across to India. You wait and see, when all the rest of the world is endeavoring to get itself ready, building itself up, you wait and see: out of the Mohammedan world (Islam) will arise a great figure and turn out to be this very man of sin. . .He is the equivalent of the beast of Revelation. It seems that he must be a cosmopolitan man: an Assyrian, one from the Mohammedan world.” –Geoffrey King, Daniel: a Detailed Explanation of the Book, Published by Henry E. Walter Ltd. London 1969, pp. 73, 76-77, 232

And in 1938, author G.H. Lang wrote the following:

‘’In other places Antichrist is styled ‘’the king of the north‘’, a term, as far as we see regularly, meaning in scripture Assyria. . . . Therefore Antichrist will be the king of Assyria with Babylon (eastern Syria and Iraq) as his capital, which of old was the dominion of Seleucus, who gained the eastern area of the empire of Alexander.
Thus when Antichrist rises he will not come at Rome, or anywhere in the west. Had this been understood many vain and misleading speculations would have been avoided, such as that of the Pope, or the Papacy, or Napoleon, or others, being he. And when he comes his military efforts will be expanded mainly upon Egypt and the south, the east, and Palestine… Hero worship has never been more luridly exhibited than in the flaming devotion of his satanically blinded followers to Mohammed. Thus the system (Islam) may be expected to blend easily into that of Antichrist when he arises in its own native region, THE MIDDLE EAST. His early career of wide and ruthless desolation will resemble closely that of Mohammed, and his fierce alternative, Submit or perish! will be precisely that of Islam, which very word itself means Submission…. ‘’ A few words may be added upon the relationship of Islam to coming changes in its home sphere, the Middle East, Mohammedanism as a religion has greatly lost its hold. The abolishment of the CALIPHATE by modern Turkey shows this relaxed grip. . . But as far as the system may survive the clash and confusion of races and politics, it will blend easily into the already rising philosophy and system that will reach its climax under Antichrist.’’ –G. H. Lang, The Histories and Prophecies of Daniel, Schoettle Publishing, 1938, p.101, 105, 115-16

What these two writers saw about sixty and eighty years ago did not make sense back then, went against the popular theory of their day (that Rome and the pope is the antichrist) and is becoming news headlines today. It is interesting to notice that G.H.Lang wrote these words that were published in 1938, only two decades after the Islamic Caliphate had been abolished by Turkey with the help of Western powers which took place at the end of WW II. It is now 2014 and it’s been almost a century since the abolishment of the Islamic Caliphate. What are we witnessing today? The call for the reestablishment of the Islamic Caliphate throughout the Islamic world and The Islamic Sate of Iraq and the Levant also known as ISIL or ISIS has just declared an Islamic Caliphate in Iraq and Syria and this might be just the embryo that will cause Islam to rise to power as in the past. Does this sound like the words of G.H. Lang who in 1938 expected the abolished Caliphate to survive and return as the rising philosophy and system that will reach its climax under Antichrist? Does it also sound like the words of Geoffrey King who in 1956 said that out of the Mohammedan world (Islam) will arise a great figure and turn out to be this very man of sin?

As you can see, this is not a new interpretation and a new idea as many of the so called prophecy teachers and scholars claim and will have us believe. The reason why many of them oppose this interpretation is because they have sold thousands of books pointing to Europe and the Roman Catholic Church as the system of the Antichrist but history, prophecy and the current move towards the reestablishment of the Islamic Caliphate prove them wrong. 1. I have been quite impressed by your thoughtful research and, I’m sure, prayed for insights on the end of days. I bought your book, Mid-East Beast and your DVDs, End Time Eye Witness. I recently heard an objection to your eschatology based on the idea that the anti-Christ set himself up as god, that all other gods were bogus. It frustrated me because Daniel talks about the theology of the anti-Christ…that he honored a ‘foreign’ God–a God of fortresses…to the critic, the anti-Christ couldn’t be Muslim because they believe in Allah. To me, it isn’t so much about rhetoric as about actions. Also, to honor the God of fortresses, or force, seems very congruent with who is the ant-Christ…please be encouraged…those seeking the wisdom of Daniel will receive it because I believe the Lord is saying it is time.

  2. Bought E-book (just 6.19$!). Just started reading the appendix about the 10 tribes, fascinating stuff. This probably means, I will buy a hardcopy as well, thank you Rodrigo Silva.

  3. I bought the e book too. It’s pretty good. He sticks to the biblical text and when he “speculates”, he lets the reader know. There is a great emphasis on a Ptolemy/Seleucid aspect of the end times, which i agree 100% with. I’m sorry, but this is a much better read than “Hidden in plain sight” and the like. I was in love with the fact that he believes the first beast of Rev 13 is the kingdom (empire), and the second beast is the AC. This is a possibility. Another key point he makes is that not all prophecy will be fully recognized until AFTER it is fulfilled. A good read.

  4. Too funny, Richard! LOL

Your comment was exactly what I did when Joel recommended “The Last Shofar”!

I will try the e-book, if interested and take a test run. I don’t often purchase paper books in any form.

If it is a MUST HAVE for my prophetic library then I will buy the paperback. But I am very, very, very picky about that. Did I say very?

The most from any author that I have is from, of course, Joel. But I have a sampling of others too who have added to the prophetic puzzle as well.

Your comment made me smile, Richard. 🙂

    Blessings!

  5. Rodrigo Silva,

I have finished the Kindle version. I am pleased with the tone. By that, I mean the humility. You gave a fair representation of the prevalent Roman Beast position and a thoughtful, balanced presentation of the Islamic Beast thesis. You did not hesitate to point out alternatives to your preferred understanding. Thank you for being a teacher instead of a propagandist.

I have a differing view of the interpretation of Daniel 7. I see the use of feminine nouns and pronouns for the beasts in Daniel 7. To me that makes the beasts to be religious (religion tend to be represented by the feminine), as opposed to political, in nature. As of now, I think they represent the four principle religious systems that have risen on the earth. Buddhism, Hinduism, Christendom (feigned Christianity) and lastly Islam. The Antichrist rises out the religious Islamic realm of the fourth beast of Daniel 7 as well as the descendants of the Seleucid empire.

I cannot defend this idea in a comment. I mention it for your consideration and to let you know why I appreciate a balance presentation such as you have made. I can mix and match, so to speak, to incorporate the new information you have given me with the information I already have in my possession.

You have done a service to me. Thank you.

All that said, the copy needed one more proofreading. There were more than just a few typos. The links I tried to follow, for the most part, did not work well. Thought you should know since I pray it goes to a second edition.

  6. When I spoke with Oktar last summer, he said they communicate with Erdogan’s admin / people regularly, give them advice, and they listen to it. How true that is, I cannot say. But Oktar and his people are certainly big supporters of Erdogan.

  8. Hi Joel, I just saw that Walid took it upon himself to slander you. What is his deal!? I know exactly what you meant in your book, and the way that he twisted it made me sick. Why would he suddenly after all these years pull out something so old and twist it all around just to hurt you??? And he included all of that disgusting stuff. It just totally gave me the creeps. He has really gone off the deep end with all of his calls to kill people and seems to be filled with jealousy toward you. I just want you to know that we appreciate your humility and all that you are doing. Don’t let it get to you. Keep looking up!

  9. When did Walid slander Joel? I thought you guys were friends. I know Walid has been getting more involved with defending Catholics and Orthodox but I don’t remember him slandering Joel. He got pretty mad at me once but we resolved it. I’VE SAID IT ONCE AND I’LL SAY IT AGAIN THE RICHARDSON SHOEBAT TEAM WORKS WELL TOGETHER.

  10. Joel, I agree with Christine. I read Walid’s article and I was quite surprised at his comments. I certainly hope he spoke to you before he published that piece; but more importantly I pray that it has not created a rift between the two of you.

  11. Michael,

I hope you understand, but I’m not going to talk ill about him. Before I read his article, I really thought we were friends. I’ve always stood up for him. But briefly, Walid and his son Theodore, wrote an article that was, in my opinion, a transparent effort to twist a couple things I wrote eleven years ago in my book Islamic Antichrist and generally slander me in a really gross way. I’m not going to link to it, as the article contains things so vile and perverse that no one should read. I agree with Christine, it just really grossed me out.

I haven’t been following Walid much the past few years as I have simply been too busy with my own projects. I wasn’t aware until just recently that he has taken a radical turn against evangelicalism in favor of Catholicism, including supporting the visions of Fatima, various marian apparitions, calling for executing homosexuals, renewed holy crusades, etc. Its all really shocking and bizarre to me. For my part, I obviously disagree with him in a profound way on these things, but I just bless him and am going to go about my own business. Please pray for him and his family.

  12. Hi Vernon,

Walid and I have not actually talked in almost three years. We exchanged a friendly e-mail a couple months ago. The article came completely out of the blue. The only thing I can think that set it off is that I tweeted a comment that the Gospel does not go forward by the sword or something like that. Then a day or two later the article came out. That’s the only thing I can figure that set him off. But to answer your question concerning a rift, of course, I forgive him, wish him well, and will pray for him, but I would not speak with him again.

  13. Joel, I didn’t see his article but I will take your word for it. I still read his site but it has gotten out of hand with catholic defending. I hate to see the two of you come apart but I totally understand why. Your response was certainly more humble and reasonable than some I have received from Walid. I made comments about the Duggar once and he called me evil! We patched that up as good Christians should but especially in these times I wish we could all be united behind Christ and His word…not the Pope. Keep up the great work look forward to the new book and seeing you next year in Kokomo Indiana.

  14. Sure thing Michael. And my point here is not to present myself as humble or magnanimous, etc. I’m trying to say as little as possible and to respond rightly.

Unfortunately, the Kokomo event is temporarily postponed. But we will reschedule for sure. Keep your eye out for updates.

    Bless ya

  15. Hi Joel,
I know this can be a sensitive time right now, however both you & Walid have opened my eyes to what this resurrected beast from the dead is. The return of the Caliphate, the Islam of old. The peaceful Islam as we know it today is not what is being resurrected, it is the Islam of old. It was not until ISIS came on the scene that I had a better understanding of what the Islam of old will be. ISIS is just a precursor of what is to come. You don’t know how many times we have read these scriptures over the past 38 years & never understood it until now.

Side note this is probably even helping the ‘pre-tribers’. LOL

This isn’t the first time two spiritual leaders have disagreed. The bible has a few examples. We all know who they are Peter & Paul, Paul & Barnabas. This will all work out, if you don’t believe me just ask John Mark.

    Stay humble,
    BJ & Alisa

  16. Joel: I have for years been familiar with your books and teachings and Walid Shoebat’s books and teachings. “God’s War On Terror” and “The Islamic Antichrist” are works that changed my entire perspective on Bible prophecy and the end times. Now, it seems, that Walid Shoebat has become a very forceful and determined apologist for Roman Catholicism and a very forceful and determined critic of Protestantism. Do you have any thoughts on this?

    Sola Fide

  17. I purchased Mid east beast on audio book and i hope this one has. This article brought excitement as well as sadness in my part. Excitement because our explanation of prophecy goes with the times and this Islamic beast paradigm fit more scripturally today than say decades ago where beheadings of saints, Sharia law and its blasphemous creeds wasnt well known to most people. Now it does. Sadness because in our present age only a handful of christians especially prophecy buff seems the only ones left who cares for such paradigm shift. If you look at the world now with all of its distraction: Internet, social media, technologies etc, the call to be Holy and watchful is lost to the majority including christians. So I feel that many will fall because they don’t look at the signs and busy compromising with this wicked world. Eventually they are the ones who will go along the worship of antichrist. It’s sad but it looks we are heading that way. Just continue to pray and keep that oil lamps burning. About Walid, I’m disappointed at him. I always check his website for updates and i also notice they are getting off tangent with the Gospel. I was pleased that joel knows it too. This is a good reason to rebuke their hate filled, vengeful hearts. It’s never christian. Christian living is all about moderation and Godly thoughts not politics, counter Jihad and militarism. Their radical stance hurt their cause. It gives our islamic perspective on prophecy an uncessesary criticism. I hope and pray they repent of their worldly and fleshly indignation and stay true to Jesus Christ

  18. Joel: I must disagree with one aspect of your criticism of Walid Shoebat. Yes, our resistance to evil and Islam must start and be founded on the gospel of grace, (i.e. Paul’s Gospel, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 1:16; Romans 2:16; Romans 16:25) the Person of Christ and Christian love with a lot of prayer and love of the Saints and the Church. But we must resist Islam politically and militarily if necessary. Certainly a strict political and/or military solution will be inadequate. But, to ignore politics and military intervention to save the innocent, is in my mind unacceptable and ignores the command of God to government to maintain order and protect the innocent (e.g. Romans 13). God bless you Bro.

  19. Joel, I share your thoughts – I just didn’t want to put them into words. The militant Christian thing is simply too far out there.

  20. When we see constant media on the horrors of Islam and ISIS it is easy to forget that we overcome evil with good (Rom. 12:21) and that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but rather:

They overcame him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (Rev. 12:11)

It’s easy to want to take things into our own hands rather than to “fight” in the manner Jesus prescribed.

  21. Bill,

To be clear, in a world where evil exists, I absolutely believe that military intervention is necessary at times. I am most certainly not a pacifist. If a wolf comes to my home to harm my sheep, I will kill the wolf.

But we are not called to go to war in the name of Christ, or as the mission of the Church. There is a huge difference between war in this age and Holy Crusades. The mandate of the Church is the proclamation of the gospel, the mandate of human governments is something else entirely. The purpose of human governments is to protect its people. If we confuse the two, then we are in great danger.

I hope this makes sense. Also, be sure to see my comments regarding those comments.

    Blessings,
    Joel

  22. Vernon, Nelson,

Just had a few minutes with Mark Davidson to chat as he was passing through my area. : )

  23. I am still praying Joel. You will be passing through my area sometime next year! And it would be awesome if Mark and Nelson could come as well.

  24. Joel: I just watched this interview on YouTube: “Joel Richardson and Adnan Oktar June 14, 2013” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaOwL-DiWXE….This was incredible. I watched Adan Oktar speaking with members of the Sanhedrin also in another video. Adan Oktar’s point of view seems to coincide with could be the message of the antichrist. I praise God for your faithfulness to Christ, especially when you informed Oktar that you do not make alliances with Muslims. Could he personally be a person of Biblical importance in our current prophetic circumstances?

  25. That’s awesome Joel. Mark has been on the road a lot. It’s great you two had time for fellowship.

I must say I’d love to visit Vernon in his sunny home town myself! 😉

  26. Bill,

Everyone alive is a person of eschatological significance. But to be more specific to your question, I would not say so. But it is fascinating to see some of the things that Mr. Oktar says for sure. The interview was heavily edited. I also invited Mr. Oktar to become a follower of Jesus, the true Jesus of the Bible and not the false Jesus of the Qur’an. But this portion has been cut out, as well as the introduction and conclusion of my prayer (to the Father God, and in Jesus name). The unedited interview was seen live throughout Turkey and in several other nations. It was an excellent opportunity to share the Gospel.

Please pray for Mr. Oktar and his followers to come to know Christ. I have enjoyed the opportunity to get to speak with a few of them.

    Blessings

  27. Joel: I will pray for Mr. Oktar and his followers to believe in Christ, the Son of God that you preached to him. I will pray for you as you are preaching the gospel to these dear people. My heart goes out to the seeming kindness of Mr. Oktar. I thank God for your faithfulness to the gospel and to Christ.

  28. Yes, it is God’s will that all men come to repentance. We know this from Ephesians 2:8. Paul makes it clear that the word ‘gift’ is not a gratuity for your works but it is a sacrifice or offering from God. “Through this sacrifice from God we have access to the Father by one Spirit” – Ephesians 2:18.

It is a misunderstanding that we can pray anyone into the kingdom of God, each person has a responsibility to accept or reject the plan of redemption for themselves.

The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 9:37-38 “Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”

Stay strong in the Lord & the power of His might,
    BJ & Alisa

  29. One comment re the appendix of Rodrigos book. It is British Israelism in another form. The ten tribes are not lost. There was movement between the two separate portions of Jacobs house before the Assyrian diaspora. Also we see Anna the prophetess, was of the tribe of Asher( Luke 2) so we have this tribe from the NT, writings which all jewish scholars( not messianic jews) do not accept. Just relatively recently is the acceptance of progeny from the tribe of Manneseh which was ‘discovered’in India. As I understand it, the records were lost of the tribal affiliation at the destruction of the Temple which acted as a births deaths and marriage register. Again this is why the rabbis, as I recall declared that the word of God had been broken because Christ was not recognized as Ha Messiach so in their view, a very wrong view, the Scepter had departed from Judah before Shiloh had come. But the final word on this matter must be the Holy Scriptures which should clear this heresy up once and for all so that no more time is wasted attributing differing people groups to the ten tribes. Yes some of us may have ‘Ísraelite blood in us, I cant trace my ancestory right back to 8 generations let alone to my celtic forefathers from Miletus where the Irish came from and neither am I interested in doing so. My tribal affiliation is Heavenly, not earthly, but we are goyim according to the gospel not the long lost tribes who were never lost.

Matt 10. Christs words, ‘..But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”, Mat_15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

Peters words, ‘..Act_2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

This should put paid to any notion that God differentiates from New Testament time regarding Israel. More scriptures may be given with the the Land of Israel from the New Testament but this is the specific words used by The Lord and His Apostles. All people with esword merely type in the search word and Israel and see the 73 verses which call the land at Christs times as Israel. Now if you want to take out the generic ways in which this is displayed in the NT go through and remove verses with King of Israel, OT reference and you are still left with Israel being the land which Christ showed Himself to, not merely the House of Judah.

It is a shame that Rodrigo added this because the bulk of his book is good but the islamic naysayers may now lump him in with the nutters now.

  30. One more comment. I could go through and exegete every passage that the appendix purports to support the Bristish Israeli heresy but I decided that the best way to handle it was to see what Christ said. I had an open mind, a hard thing to do, but I constantly came across cherry picked scripture without context and then just so explanations to why this is so. The appendix forgets historical context of the Galatians, Peters letters etc and so does what it accuses others of doing, uses a presupposition and then ‘finding’or manufacturing the evidence from the vast text of the Bible..It is basically a tautology in extended form.

  31. I could not put Rodrigo’s book down. Am on my second reading.
I am persuaded by his thoughtful research. The reaearch really makes sense if you know how to exegete every word of Scripture. The Middle East is where God’s action will take place – e.g. “the nations round about” Israel. Note: the US and Italy, and the old Roman Empire, etc. are not “the nations round about” Israel. The Antichrist will be an Islamic individual period.
