Film Update
It has been a few months since I have posted an update concerning the production of the film product that I’ve been working on for the past 15 months or so. First, as I’ve mentioned previously, the film project has now been broken up into two separate documentary films. The first film will address many of the primary signs of the coming Messiah as they relate to what is taking place right now throughout the Middle East. It is scheduled to be released at the end of June. In working with the publisher, this film is now officially titled: End Times Eyewitness: Israel, Islam and the Unfolding Signs of Messiah’s Return.
After several delays, the rough edit is nearly done. The second film, not yet titled, will be released early next year.
New Book
I am also diligently working on a new book. In many ways, this book will be a popularized theology of Israel and the nations in the last days. The goals of the book include: (1) To articulate a theological basis for the ongoing centrality of Israel in the unfolding promise-plan of God by surveying the five great covenants of Scripture, (2) to demonstrate the utter bankruptcy of Supercessionism (replacement theology), Preterism, and Amillennialism, (3) to walk through the primary events of the last days, including both wars and revivals prophecied in the Scriptures, (4) to tie all of these things into current events now unfolding throughout the nations, (5) outline the basics of the last 3.5 years, and (6) provide a strategic-forecast to enable the Church to better understand the times and how it should respond.

Brother, thanks for the update! Such a reward to follow what God is doing with you. I look forward to the book and documentaries.
Hi Joel,
We listened to the audio recordings from when you were in Lexington kentucky. I highly recommend anybody reading this to do so. As for your special request, yes we will send you something to help out with the extra cost.
Outstanding update! Really looking forward to your upcoming film. The goals laid out are clear, concise, and very informative. Revival during the Time of Jacob’s Trouble – I sense you will have much to say about the 144-thousand. Oh to imagine 144k Apostle Paul’s evangelizing the world… May God continue to bless you and your family as you diligently serve Him in these last days.
We look forward to continuing to promote your current and future work (DVD’s, Books, etc.) at http://www.HarpazoTV.com

I hope your new book features an expanded consideration of Mystery Babylon.
Mecca appears to be the best find in my mind, but there are some substantial difficulties with citing Mecca that require further thought (particularly the description of the city as having a trade in wine… wine is not the most popular consumable in Wahabi-land).
I would be intrigued to hear your thoughts on sequence of events to come. as near as I can place it, what we should expect in rough order is:
1) War between King of the South and King of the North (pre tribulation)
2) A non-decisive end to the above-mentioned war leading to an uneasy false friendship between North and South (pre tribulation)
3) Israeli-Iranian conflict of some sort. (pre tribulation)
4) Weakening in Iranian power, and increase in the Assyrian’s domain. (pre tribulation)
5) Formation of multi-nation coalition against Israel, eventually with 10 member-states. (pre tribulation)
6) Rise of the Little Horn who was opposed to the King of the South. (just prior to start of tribulation)
7) Invasion or occupation of Israeli territory by the Coalition (Beast/ Last Antichrist Empire). Israelis forced to flee or face murder or internment. (Tribulation begins)
8) Abomination of desolation begins. The two witnesses begin their ministry.
9) Return of the King of the North/Assyrian/ Little Horn to the Kingdom of the South (Egypt, Libya, Sudan/Somali).
9) Decisive victory for the King of the North against the King of the South; Egyptians, Libyans, and Cushites exiled). This is the uprooting of the three horns.
10) Opposition to Antichrist from the west begins to threaten the Assyrian. Parts of the Satanic empire show weakness and signs of crumbling.
11) Plagues, natural disaster and international warfare increase.
12) Rebellion (or perhaps siding with western opposition) prompts Antichrist to allow Iranians to destroy Mystery Babylon.
13). (In short order) Witnesses killed and resurrected; Return of Messiah; Beast, Satan, Antichrist defeated.
14) Messiah establishes government in Jerusalem. Other nations allowed to keep either full autonomy or diminished authority; Messiah’s people brought to Israel.
15) 1,000 years of Messiah’s reign is capped off by a return of Satan in corporeal form. Magog and friends assault Messiah and are defeated by Messiah.
16) Final judgment occurs. God lives with his people for the rest of eternity from New Jerusalem.
I’ll be interested in your take on the final events.
Hey Friend ~
How amazing God’s timing is, and how He is using you at such a time as this! Great work, Joel, and I pray blessings upon you, your family, and this work.
What is your opinion of the recent meeting of Obama, the Pope, and Kerry, to coerce Israel (Jerusalem) to sign a ‘Peace Treaty.’ Interesting stuff, huh?
Continue walking in the dust of His feet, Joel. He has you just where He needs you.
Be blessed,

Hello Joel,
Before you mentioned in a comment on an article in the past about that you were writing a book about mystery babylon connection to Saudi Arabia.
Are you still writing the book, and if so, when can we expect to see this book of yours in the bookstores to buy?
Thanks joel, looking forward to your reply
The Mystery Babylon book will be probably two years or so away.
Have you read the study Chris White did on Mystery Babylon? I think he has the answer within the text of Revelation that is hard to refute. I went through it, and it cliked with me. Peace in the Lord
Hi Steve,
Yes Chris sent me his book on the subject. It is not a view I hold to. For me, there are several holes in the theory, but it does have some strengths. Of the various interpretations out there, it is my second option actually. But I do not think that the issue of Mystery Babylon is one to be tremendously dogmatic about. MY biggest problem with Chris’s theory concerning MB is that he ties it into the Antichrist being Jewish. For me, this theory is not only entirely untenable Scripturally, but incredibly dangerous. Particularly in light of the long history of rabid Christian anti-Semitism and the growing anti-semitic conspiracy theories that are now re-emerging in our day. The False Prophet perhaps could turn out to be Jewish, but not the AC. Just my perspective, for what it is worth.
Blessings
Yeah Joel, I agree with you about the false Prophet could possibly be Jewish, or will most likely be. The beast coming out of the land compared to the Antichrist who rises out of the sea. The AC got to be a gentile. I like how he contrasts the “the great city” with “cities of the nations (gentiles)”. Rev 16:19. Also the last two prophets that will ever be forever, are killed in the “great city”. Rev 11:7,18:24 Only Jerusalem can make this cliam. Matt 23:37. These two points did it for me.
Steve,
I agree that some of these references are what I consider the strengths of the argument. But this also not only assumes, but demands that there is only one “great city.” Which is a huge assumption to rest everything on. There is actually no reason however why there cannot be two “great” cities, one of the Lord and the other of Satan. Elsewhere in Scripture, Nineveh is called “the great city” three times (Jonah 1:2, 3:2, 4:11).
The problem with this view of course, which White touches on, but somewhat glosses over, are that Mystery Babylon is clearly forever desolated, an eternal waste, never to be inhabited again. Yet Jesus clearly returns to the Mount of Olives, does He not? Does he not rule specifically from Jerusalem? Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion in the far north, the city of the great King. (Psalm 48:2) White suggests that perhaps the future Jerusalem will be located somewhere else, in a different part of the nation altogether. But this is impossible to argue during the Millennium. Perhaps this could be argued of the eternal state, but not the Millennium. They are simply too many literal specific geographic markers listed in Scripture to list here. Things like the Jesus returning to the Mount of Olives (Zechariah 12) or waters flowing out of Jerusalem specifically from the area of the Temple south, and then to the Dead Sea and the Mediterranean Sea (Ezekiel 40-48. Things like Jesus ruling specifically from Mount Zion, mentioned dozens of times. There are literally dozens of very literal passages that simply need to be disregarded in order for this to work. So this touches on why I find it untenable.
Other weaknesses of the theory are that Babylon is clearly an economic global powerhouse that holds sway over the kings of the earth (Rev. 18). Clearly Jerusalem is not this now, nor does it appear to be in the near future. So either this is something quite some time in the future, or it is something that is happening now, but is unseen. This is where it is easy for anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists to make claims concerning the evil Jews who secretly control the world and Chris’s theories can be an easy fit. and this is one of my big concerns. Chris basically answers this simply by saying that he is not anti-Semitic. But this is not enough. As a teacher who holds that Islam is the system of the AC, I am so aware of how thoroughly I qualify my message in such a way so as to not let wicked men abuse it. If I am responsible for Muslims hating or fearing Muslims, then I will stand before the Lord as judge for this. As teachers, I believe we are responsible for this. It’s is a tremendous responsibility.
Another issue is that Mystery Babylon represents the greatest false religion mankind has ever known. She is “The Mother of all harlots”. Judaism is such a tiny religion compared to any of the others. As such, his entire theory relies on Jerusalem being the capitol of a coming global Antichristic Judaism, led by a Jewish Antichrist. Again, I simply do not see this. The AC is clearly a gentile, after the pattern of Nebuchadnezzer, Antiochus Epiphanes IV and several others. Also, Isaiah 14, as an example, the AC and the King of Babylon are blended into one being. In any case, the list goes on. I hope that this might stir some berean-ism.
Bless you!
Joel, wouldn’t a revived Ottoman empire – where one language arabic is the norm – be a good system for being Mystery Babylon? Arabic is the only language in which the Koran should be read. Currently the muslim brotherhood and other political and terror groups want to establish an islamic nation in the middle east with it’s capital in Jerusalem. Isn’t this the same as Nimrod wanting to establish a city with a name for itself that reaches towards heaven? As for mystery babylon being an economic powerhouse, Turkey wants to set up an economic union much like the Eu don’t they?
Also I read somewhere that Mecca would be destroyed in coming times by Iran, I think it was Walid Shoebat who said that, I’m not sure. But do you find scripture evidence of this? I cant get the idea out of my mind that if mecca is destroyed and antichrist sets up shop in Jerusalem he might move the kaba stone and set it up as the abomination in the temple and as a statue of himself. Or is this a too wild of a theory?
Robert,
The empire of the Beast destroys Mystery Babylon. Initially they are close, rider and stead, but then something shocking happens, they turn on each other and the Beast devours here and buns her with fire. So I am more apt to see Mecca / Saudi as MB and the coming AC Empire to be the Beast. Time will tell.
I also believe that Jerusalem is the Harlot that rides the beast.
My understanding is that the beast (world wide kingdom) with ten horns (Islamic countries) will make a city (Jerusalem) the world capital of this new world wide kingdom. At first peace will be used to establish this system, but then the world wide kingdom along with the Islamic horns will turn on Jerusalem and destroy it. Only the temple will be spared.
Then Jesus returns you to defend his people and establish his kingdom.
Obadiah 1:7-“All of the men of your confederacy, shall force you to your border; the men at peace with you shall deceive you and prevail against you.
Those who eat your bead shall lay a trap for you. No one is aware of it.”
Jerusalem will be destroyed but a New Jerusalem will descend from above. Praise God.
I would also mention 1 Peter 5:13. He mentions greetings from Babylon. If you study church history you will find that Peter was the First Bishop of Jerusalem. He was the apostle of the Jews, while Paul was the Apostle of the Gentiles.
The question begs, “Where was Peter when he wrote this letter?” hint: not in Rome.
The Catholic church would have us believe his bones are in the Vatican, but according to the Bible Peter was never in Rome.
Chris,
“The New Jerusalem” does not descend from heaven until after the millennium (Rev. 21:2). Whatever earthly city “Mystery Babylon” is, it will forever cease to exist (Rev. 18:22-24). But Jesus will return to Jerusalem, will reign in Jerusalem, will reign from Jerusalem. The nations will stream to Jerusalem. So this is a glaring difficulty to overcome. I’m not sure it is possible.
Christopher,
Nonsense. You will find no such evidence that Peter was an early Bishop of Jerusalem, never mind the first Bishop. The first Bishop was James. Every early Church documents and writers that speak to this issue all place Peter in Rome. The argument against Peter being in Rome, is in my opinion little more than an anti-Catholic polemic. But it is unnecessary.
Beyond this, the Jewish and early Christian use of the code-name Babylon for Rome is commonly found in various intertestamental works such as 2 Esdras and the Sibylline Oracles, etc.
Joel, I am not sure if you are Catholic, but if not, you would do well to steer clear of the Apocrypha. The books you quoted 2 Esdra and the Sybilline oracles are not canon for a reason.
If you seek the truth, you must first identify what is false then hold fast to the truth.
Joel,
Thanks for the reasons you do not hold to Chris White’s viewpoint! I’m sorry, I think that it is more than an assumption. Just like there is only one “the great tribulation”, and “the apostasy”, “the great city”, is revealed and then contratsed with the “cities of the gentiles”. There is nothing within the book that gives us a hint of MB being any other city than “the great city” we first read about, that is interpreted for us. It is hard to reconcile, “will not be found anymore”, but this could be hyperbole,as you taught us about. It could be describing her character, that she will never play the harlot again, becuse she will be judged, reconciled, and lifted up above all hills of the world. The earth itself will be greatly changed during the day of the Lord, and both Isa 2, and Exek 40-48, speak of this. I too believe Mr. White is off the mark in thinking the AC will be Jewish, but I went back over “the great city”, and the clue that the prophet’s blood is in her, and can’t find anything wrong with his teaching on this. So, I will have to disagree with you on this, and do it in a spirit of friendship and brotherly love! 🙂 I know God will inform and correct us in the furure. Thanks for all you do Joel!
Christopher,
I am not a Roman Catholic. I did not cite these books as if they are inspired or biblical any more than I was in citing Unger’s Bible Dictionary. These are historical books that show that it was a common belief of Jews during what is called the 2nd Temple period, which includes the 1st century and the early Church. The point is simple: Babylon was commonly used during this period to refer to Rome. There is no reason apart from anti-Catholic polemics to argue that Peter was not in Rome when 1 Peter was written. Thus 1Peter 5:15 is most likely a reference to Rome. The only other possible option is that he was in literal Babylon. But I have found this to be unlikely.
Consider the words of Ignatius, who was an early Bishop of Rome:
Do you know when this was written? 110 A.D. Now, who do you suggest has a better idea as to whether or not Peter was in Rome, Ignatius who lived within a few decades of the event, or you and I?
Or the words of Ireneaus:
This was written in 180 A.D. Did the Church already lose its own history?
Or consider the words of Tertullian:
This was written in 200 A.D. Again, who is more likely to have an accurate account of its history, those who loved close to the fountain or those of us who live 200 after the fact?
One may say, but where is a proof in Scripture. I understand, but the argument from silence is no argument at all. 1 Peter 5:15 is enough confirmation.
Now, you made a claim that Peter was the first Bishop of Jerusalem. I’m not sure where you got this idea, but there is nothing in history that supports this. I would suggest that we who live 2000 after the fact simply consult the words of those who lived during this time. These early Church writers who lived close those days all say that Peter was the first Bishop of Rome. There is no evidence to the contrary. For future reference, the comments section here is not open for arguing or debates. I don’t post any comments that I don’t feel add to the posts.
Steve,
Absolutely. I’m not trying to convince you, simply explaining why I personally find it untenable. I would also suggest that to take the following passage as mere hyperbole, is to fail to understand what hyperbole is. Hyperbole is an exaggeration to emphasize how great something is. But what Revelation speaks of here is a total annihilation and eternal desolation. An absence of any human inhabitants:
I’m not sure how one can say that this applies to Jerusalem, which then becomes the location where Jesus rules the nations from and which all nations will stream to for a thousand years. Even if we said it is an exaggeration, it is still nearly impossible to reconcile with the thorough emphasis of Jerusalem as the immediate location of the coming headquarters of the global rule. To me, this simply doesn’t make any sense to me. Bit to say I could not be wrong, but it seems like an insurmountable contradiction.
As for Ezekiel 40-48, it speaks of a change in the topography as the result of a great earthquake, but the general land remains. There is no evidence that the location of Jerusalem moves to another location. In order for the Jerusalem-Babylon theory to work, one must be able to prove solidly that Jerusalem will actually move to another location. I do not know of any evidence of this.
In the future, I will walk through this all a bit more thoroughly than just a passing blog comment. I think once the actual Scriptures are laid out before us, it just doesn’t work. But as always, God knows best.
Blessings
Joel, will your book include the One State Solution that Caroline Glick has written about? Because, if there is something that would cause Arabs to get hot under the collar, it is a door open for folk to consider themselves to be “Arabic Speaking Israelis”, instead of Arabs.
Joel,
you correctly point out Jerusalem would have to be in another location. I believe it will indeed because there will be a new heaven and a new earth, old things are passed away, and behold all things are made new.
The new earth will have one new city with no Ocean. It would certainly seem the geography has changed.
Perhaps this fits your requirement?
Chris,
Again, that is after the millennium. The things you speak of are speaking of the eternal state, not the millennium. But during the millennium, this is most certainly not the case. There is most definitely a sea and everything else. Those who deny that there is a literal 1000 year Millennium are called Amillennialists. Amillennialists are also inherently Supercessionists, (Replacement Theology), for they claim that the Lord’s promises to Abraham will never be literally fulfilled. They argue that the Jews will never actually receive the land promised, that it has all been spiritualized away.
I personally don’t think that it is a literal thousand years, but I am against replacement theology. It is clear to me that God is bringing the kingdom to the Jews. I see two distinctions, the time of the Gentiles and the return to the Jews. Gods faithfulness is evident in that he never forsakes his original promises to Israel and his descendents.
Just my opinion. Not sure any of us will live to find out. The tribulation looks like not many make it through.
I do like how the Jewish believers will be marked and make it through the Trumpets, just like in Egypt!
Hi Joel,
just a quick question. Will your book explain or cover the topic of mark of the beast? You only mentioned it briefly in your dvd.
Christopher.
I agree it will be moved too, but it will be UP. I think both Isa 2:1, and Ezek 40:2, speak to this effect. This is after we read in Rev 16, where the Mts were not found. So, God judges the earth, then He reworks it “before” the MIll. God will give Jerusalem a new name which His mouth will designate. Isa 62:2. This besides all the other names it will be called. I believe too, that whatever God does after the Mill, it will not be destroying everything Jesus and the saints have built during the Kingdom. It could be He just dries up most of the seas to make more room for everyone. Or, Rev 21-22 “could” be a partial parenthesis of many things that are already taking place during the Mill, just like Rev 12-14. I too see the Bible teaching Jerusalem as the end time MB for sure, but find it hard to explain what Joel has brought up. I look at it as something we have to meditate on further, or wait until it happens to know 100%. But Jerusalem is the Harlot all throughout the OT, she and her people will be judged before they are reconclied. So judgment is not only for the nations, but Jerusalem and her people too, only the remnant will be saved to enter the Kingdom. Ezek 39:21-24
Hi Samuel,
No, it will not be addressed.
Steve,
I think the reference in Isa 2 concerning the mountain of the Lord being raised above all the other mountains is likely a simple reference to its exalted status as the leader of all the other nations. This isn’t to say that there will not be a topographical change to Jerusalem during the millennial kingdom, as it is clear that there will be. But again, even if Jerusalem were to be somehow be raised higher, it certainly does not eliminate the problem of Rev. 18 and her being desolate forever on one hand and her being the center of the global rule and the activity of God on the other. At the least, its a very high mountain to overcome. And of course, Jerusalem continues to be called Jeruslaem all throughout the millennium, as you said, along with her other names, such as my favorite: “the Lord is there.” Another comment worth considering as well is that though Jerusalem is frequently referred to as a harlot through the OT, it is most certainly not the only city referred to as a harlot. Nineveh and Tyre are also referred to as harlots. In fact, there is much that is drawn from these passages in Rev 17-18. So beyond Jerusalem, we have Babylon, Nineveh and Tyre that are all referred to as harlot cities.
In my opinion, Mystery Babylon is simply the capitol of Satan in the earth. It is the head of the reigning Beast empire of the day. So the prototype of course was Babylon, head of the Babylonian Empire. Nineveh also, once the capitol of the Assyrian Beast Empire was called the harlot city and the bloody city. And then of course, there is the reference to Rome being called “Babylon” by the Jews and Christians in the 2nd Temple period. Rome of course was the capitol of the reigning Beast Empire of that day. Today, Islam is the reigning Beast Empire, though it presently is in the state of having suffered the head wound, as it were.
But it is the term “Mother of all Harlots” I tend to think that is the key to her identification. Harlotry is very simple, it is the worship of another god other than YHWH, the One True God. The term, “the Mother of” simply means that largest, greatest, and most significant. It is a classic Middle-Eastern expression. Remember Saddam’s comments to the effect that Gulf War I would be “the mother of all battles.” So the question has to be asked, is Jerusalem or will Jerusalem become the greatest false religion that has ever existed? Will Jerusalem truly become the mother of all Harlots? It is not out of the question, but I tend to see it as unlikely that the whole world will embrace some form of false Judaism. Certainly the Islamic world will not. But when we look to Mecca, the single most travelled to nation in the history of mankind, the single most visited city in the earth, year after year, the most significant city of idolatry that the World has ever known, with 1.6 billion bowing to idolatrous that city five times daily committing harlotry, the picture becomes a but more clear. No other city has been the center of idolatry, harlotry as has Mecca…
Of course, as always, I could be wrong. God knows best. But I am confident that if we all remain humble and watchful, in time it will become clear.
Bless you.
Amen on that last note brother!
Yeah, these are exciting times we are living in, and God seems to be really moving in world affairs! Thanks again for this great forum! 🙂 P.S. I’m too old to run barefoot anymore! I feel blessed when I’m injury free enough to run the trails a little. Really feel close to God out there away from man-made stuff. 🙂
Hi everyone
Although I’m not really into books at the moment, I will buy this one as it looks very interesting.
Thank you Joel for the info on Peter and Rome, I was always told the same as Christopher, only I never actually investigated it, so that was most helpful, thankyou.
If I might add a comment on Jerusalem and Babylon the great, I really cant see it myself, I think it is a different city, I don’t think Jerusalem ever sat on “many water’s”, or ever reigned over Kings of the earth, or ever will do until Jesus comes back. I also cant see heaven rejoicing over Jerusalem’s destruction, (rev 19v1-4 ?)
I came across this verse in Ezekiel:
“And I will do in thee that which I have not done, and whereunto I will not do any more the like, because of all thine abominations.”5v9 I think God is saying that He would never again bring such a complete destruction upon the city, I realize the romans did destroy Jerusalem again, but this time maybe the Father did not initiate it, as His promise in Ezekiel has to stand.
Truly like you all,it will be amazing to things unfold.
Blessings to you all.
Joel,
I saw that your film is being made by the same people who made the Isaiah 9:10 documentary. What do you think about the premise of this film and the potential implications for America? Thanks–appreciate your voice.
Cory
Joel,
Fascinating Mystery Babylon discussions. I personally “suspect” it is Mecca but am not 100% sure. Isaiah 21 (which is quoted by John in Rev) is a main clue.
I have always wondered, “why does the Antichrist destroy Mecca?” Then it dawned on me, the Antichrist wants all of Islam’s worship. He will not tolerate prayers to Mecca, he will want them all directed to himself. Muslim prophets can “change” the religion if I understand it correctly, eliminating Mecca would dramatically redirect all worship to the AC in Jerusalem.
Just some meditations I’ve had on the subject.
