This is interesting. The Altar of Zeus alternately known as the Pergamon Altar built between 197 and 156 B.C. formerly in Pergamon, Asia Minor, (today Bergama, Turkey) is now housed in Berlin’s Pergamon Museum. This is also the same altar that Jesus referred to as, “the Throne of Satan” in Revelation 2:13
‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. (Revelation 2:13)
It was also this same altar that Hitler’s architect Albert Speer used as the model for the Zeppelintribune Field used by Hitler to make his most grand speeches to the Nazis.
According to ABC News, the Museum will be closed to all visitors for five years for the purpose of restoration work on the museum building that houses it.
The authority that runs Berlin’s public museums said Tuesday the central hall that contains the altar will close Sept. 29, and likely won’t reopen until 2019.
As an aside, while many saw it as a deeply ominous sign, I personally found it more humorous that when President Obama made his initial acceptance speech in 2008 for the DNC presidential nomination, it was in a nearly perfect replica of what Jesus referred to as “the throne of Satan.”
Needless to say many leftist bloggers and news outlets went crazy when I pointed this out.

As I recall, Turkey has been pushing Western nations in possession of their artifacts to return them for many years now. Will be interesting to see if there is any more to the story.

Joel, thank you for posting this. Anytime Yeshua refers to something in his direct words in scripture I pay very close attention.
Obviously we cannot know what if anything is future for this artifact but the closing of the museum for 5 years is very strange. You could build 3 museums in that time. Might this artifact be transfered back to Turkey and be used by the AC in some manner? The fact that Hitler and Obama have both chosen similar looking structures just adds to the mystery. This museum and the artifact are now on my radar.
I remember reading about Bergama starting to rebuild the seat of zeus back in 2008. wander what happened with that. I thought I had saved the news article but can’t seem to find it. that would be quiet interesting giving where we are in history with prophecy being fulfilled in our time. Is turkey going to get satans seat back? Is his seat and authority still there? just a thought.
Interesting about the alter, but how do you know that Jesus was referring to that specific temple in Pergamos? Is sounds to me that he is referring to the city in general.

The Altar of Pergamon was the most well known and central feature of the city at the time. Most scholars simply assume that Jesus was referring to this altar rather that the actual city per se.

Reading this reminded me of the fact that Germany (at least the Western Länder) is home to a great many Turks (Gastarbeiter who moved there after the second world war). Maybe they’ll petition the German government to return the Pergamon altar to Turkey (perhaps as Turkey’s welcome-present to the EU 😉 ). …Interesting that the Western nation which turned itself into a giant and ruthlessly efficient machine for the extermination of Jews has these ties with a nation which could well emerge as the head of a multinational confederacy for the extermination of Jews.

I have been studying through Jesus’ messages to the 7 churches in Revelation and can’t help but to think that Jesus was telling us directly some things about the anti-christ (whom will be indwelt by Satan). Namely, that the seat of his power will be in Turkey (Rev. 2:13) and the religion/church of the anti-christ will be Islam (synagogue of Satan, Rev. 2:9; 3:9). They (Muslims) say they are Jews (followers of God) but are not because they are not circumcised of the heart. Revelation 3:9 would have an interesting meaning if this is the case. Have you come across this anywhere else or is this a stretch?

The alliance is between Turkey and Iran. Not Russia
It is amazing in the first place how Germany can come into Turkey and without hesitation or fight take an entire Temple especially the Temple that is mentioned in Revelations and the country of Turkey allowed this to happen. Are they the “special police force” he sent to fight the Kurds in Afrin? The Pergammon altar was in Turkey with Antiochus Epiphanes who ruled over Turkey and Persia (modern day Iran). So Antiochus IV Epiphanes attacked Israel and the 1st temple. The regiment from Turkey destroyed the 2nd temple. Germany with the altar tried to exterminate the Jewish people durin WWII. During WWI Turkey murdered 1.5+ million Christians (Armenian). And, during the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, Turkey was “eastern Rome.” Turkey and Israel will fight and then agree to peace. 5 eastern toes and 5 western toes will join forces to destroy Israel, but Jesus himself will defeat them.

I’ve just “discoved” you a couple of months ago and have been reading your books which have been very eye-opening but haven’t come across anything about this yet.
