A Simplified Overview of the Covenants

Share:

Because I so often use powerpoint files when speaking, (rather than notes per se), many ask me for a copy of the files. I’ve decided to start converting over my powerpoint files into PDF’s to share. Here is a very simple overview of the biblical covenants. I think many will find it helpful when wrestling through issues of supersessionism. I’ve also added links to these files over on the articles page.

  1. Thanks so much for this helpful tool, Joel. It can be used to help new believers understand the vital importance of Israel within God’s plan when discipling them. It is also a good refresher for correct doctrinal belief for mature believers. Keep them coming and keeping core Christian beliefs fresh in our minds.

    Blessings!

  2. Excellent resource! I was just walking my daughter through this information two days ago. She is working on her Masters in Biblical Studies at Asbury Seminary and was told by one of her professors that anyone who believes that the Jews are God’s chosen people or that Jesus will rule from literal Jerusalem is “a borderline heretic.” Thanks for sharing this.

  3. Holy, Holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty! We are saved by grace! His holiness is unfathomable! Thank you Jesus! He will accomplish in us what we could NEVER do ourselves!

  4. Joel, I am on your page other than Russia’s role in end times scenarios, especially in regard to replacement, fulfillment, kingdom now theologies….I would love for you to critique a teaching powerpoint video I work from…the video needs to be updated as it was made over a year ago:

  5. If you have trouble sleeping some night, turn it on and problem solved! It is long, so no worries if you dont have the interest or time, I understand, but if you do, I am interested in your overall sense of it, and if you have suggestions for it to be improved…..no sweat if not, thanks

  6. Thanks for your understanding Sam. I’ll try. Most days lately, I can barely answer my e-mails. : / Blessings!

  7. No problems, I understand! I was planning to update it and a couple of others since they were made Dec 2014, and much has happened in the world since then!

As an aside, I am wondering if a catalyst that might serve to temporarily unite Shi’ites and less extreme Sunnis in an unholy alliance might be ISIS….

  8. Hey Joel,
Do you believe in the “Dual Covenant” theological viewpoint in that Jews, even today, can be saved when they die apart from being believers in Christ? I know John Hagee & others believe they can still go heaven by being “good Jews”. I don’t believe that, but that’s the main accusation I encounter when I try to share that I don’t believe God is done yet with the Jewish nation/people on the prophetic time clock. Then I get accused of “not believing the Gospel is the only way”, which is totally false. It’s like when I explain I lean towards Pre-Millinealism (& not Amillinealism) & get accused of being a “dispensationalist” of the school of John Darby (which is ridiculous because I have never been Pre-Trib, which is Darby’s hallmark of Dispensationalism). I just wanted to know what you believe about unbelieving (in Christ as the Messiah) Jews who die now?
    God Bless you brother!
    Jeff

  9. Joel,
Are you saying, the house of Isreal represents the Gentiles( that come into covenant with the God of Abraham), and the house of Judah(the ones that recognizes their Messiah)represents the Jews? The middle wall of partition being broke down and making in himself of two one new man. Ezekiel 37: 15-28 telling the story and verse 22 making clear that there will be one nation in the land on the mountains of Isreal, and one king shall be king to them. The two shall be divided no more.
If this is not what you are teaching could you please clarify, so I don’t miss understand your teaching. Thank you.

  10. The whole house of Israel is simply the northern and southern kingdoms (Israel and Judah) unified. All of the sons /tribes of Israel. Individual gentiles are grafted in but are never considered to be Jews.

  11. Thank you for clarifying. I did not mean to imply
that the gentiles are Jews in any way!! Lord bless you and your work.

  12. Thanks Joel, this is very helpful. I also just watched the films Covenant & Controversy & Sheep Among Wolves, along with the other films on FAI’s site, I heard of them threw the Underground. They were all incredible, very moving. Thanks so much for your work.
