As I eagerly await the actual production of The Revolution Film Project, I’ve been enjoying learning how to do some basic editing on Final Cut Pro X. All footage was captured on June 15, 2013 in Taksim Square, Istanbul, Turkey. Special thanks to my buddies Steve and Dalton Thomas as well as Daniel van Moll for the additional shots. The whirling dervish was filmed in the little café below the Blue Mosque in Sultan Ahmet on my iPhone. Music is Lake Yarina by Josh Garrels.

Looking forward to see your film! By the way, great choice of music. My favorite song from Josh Garrels is ‘Season of Rain’. :->
I know this is off the subject but I have a question for you Joel. I ran across Tim Warner through your website and read his book “The Time of the End”. It was pretty fascinating. At the end he said that he did not believe in the Islamic end time theory but does reference your book. He says this because of Rev 17:10 “There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time.”
The Islamic empire lasted about 700 years which is not a short time. I truly believe in an Islamic antichrist but this is I am having a hard time with. Could you please shed light on it?
Brad,
First, lets look at the full passage:
Mountains are a very common Biblical reference or symbol for a kingdom. The seven heads represent both kingdoms (mountains) and kings. The Antichrist is the final king of the final kingdom. This final kingdom is essentially a revival (or resurrection, if you will) of the seventh head/kingdom. The trick is that the seventh and the eighth are two, yet one. They are the same head, yet it calls them as if they are two: a 7th and an 8th. So when it says “the other one” it is simply zooming right in on the final king, the Antichrist. He will only rule for a short time. But we need not apply this to the seventh kingdom per se, but only specifically to the final king, who is the primary subject of the prophetic riddle. The shortness of the AC’s rule is reiterated when it says that the beast will rule with the ten kings for “one hour” (an expression indicating a short period) and the period whereby Satan is enraged “because he knows his time is short”.
It is important to acknowledge that this passage is simply a reiteration of Daniel 2 and 7. Thus, in Daniel 2, the legs of iron correlate to the 7th head. The mixed feet correlate to the 8th head. Likewise in Daniel 7, the fourth beast correlates to the 7th head, whereas the horns that later come out (Dan. 7:24) of the beast correlate to the 8th head. So it all actually lines up quite nicely.
Bottom line, if one rejects that the Islamic Empire is the 7th, then what do they say is the 8th? Rome cannot be the 6th, 7th and 8th. The Roman paradigm is the theory that actually has the true difficulty with this passage in my opinion. I hope this has helped.
Blessings!
the heads represent both kingdoms and kings. The reference to “the other [who] has not yet come” is a reference to the final king, the Antichrist.
Joel,
I so appreciate your response. There are so many direct scriptures supporting an Islamic end time theory that I think you make a good case for your interpretation of this passage which appears to be more questionable.
I don’t know if you have read Tim Warner’s book. I was debating whether to read it myself because I have been so adverse to date setters, but since you had referenced him I did read it and have watched most all his youtube videos. Using the Hebrew and Jubilee calendars he came up with a date 6k years from creation as to the date Christ would return. Supposedly the early Church believed in the 6k/1k doctrine. God would wrestle with man 6k years under the curse followed by the 1k year millennium.
Tim believes that we should interpret Jesus’s quote of not knowing the day or hour as no one at that time had been able to see it yet. He said we should know which watch that he comes and not be overtaken as a thief.
The early Church relied on the Septuagint which erroneously added 100 years per generation to their calendar hence they thought Christ would return in their lifetime. It became heresy when this did not occur.
I would really love to hear your opinion on all of this.
I have been studying prophesy for years and got hung up on preterism. Thank you so much for your ministry. It has truly been enlightening!
Brad
Brad,
I think Tim’s work in a very important contribution to the discussion. I think he does a much need and fantastic job of addressing Chiliasm. No one wants to discuss th early Church’s Chiliasm. Whether or not his calendar is correct is yet to be seen. I’m not willing to go in whole hog as we has done, but I think it is entirely worthy of being aware of. I am convinced that no one really will know until the time starts drawing closer.
Blessings
Thanks Joel. I appreciate your pure heart. I know we need this to find truth.
Brad
Joel,
Excellent to hear you in person today at the prophecy conference in Lexington…fascinating teaching and testimonies. God’s prophets are alive and well.
Interesting discussion on Chrislam. Several years ago, before I ever heard of the Islamic end times paradigm, I got blocked from the CM “Making Jesus Accessible” blog…my comments were not agreeable enough evidently 🙂 He sent me a bunch of his CDs and a book. The saddest part is that people are potentially being shortchanged out of experiencing the real Jesus by the counterfeit/innocuous version of Him that is being presented.
Ordered the Josh Garrels CD for my 11-year-old-aspiring-rock-star-son. He gives it his vote for your CD production.
Praying/Fasting for all that is taking place and that which likely lies just ahead. Thanks so much for your ministry.
not ‘CD’ but DVD production…Looking forward to it
Thanks Lisa
Was great to meet you as well.
Blessings!
