SodaStream and Scarlett Johansson: Three Comments

Share:

This article by Rabbi Ammiel Hirsch has almost perfectly expressed my feelings concerning the whole controversy between Scarlett Johansson, Oxfam, and Roger Waters. If I had written the article, the only difference is that I would have sardonically quoted Pink Floyd lyrics a bit more than the rabbi. To my embarrassment, there was a time when Roger Waters was a hero of mine. Of course, this is only because I was 15 and stoned most of the time (I came to faith at age 19, just in case you’re wondering). So its doesn’t surprise me that he has re-emerged into my world these many years later, though now a man in his 70’s, still seeking to be profound, but just as juvenile as he was 30 years ago. To be honest, I always liked David Gilmour much better anyway.

  1. Interesting write up. Nice synopsis of the arguments in favor of the right of Israel to be a Nation in their biblical homeland. When you consider the intense opposition they face(d), their existence does defy great odds indicating God’s miraculous power at work. Praying/fasting for all that likely lies just ahead.
