17 Apr Persecution in Iran: A few words from Pastor Hormuz Shariat
The recent arrest of my relative, Saeed Abedini, has brought global attention to the oppressive persecution of Christians in Iran, which you have likely seen via Fox News, CNN, ACLJ and other media.
Saeed is married to my niece, Naghmeh, whom I led to the Lord several years ago. I personally trained them both in ministry and know them very well. Although an American citizen, Saeed was arrested for Christian activity in Iran and sentenced to eight years in prison, as the Iranian government does not recognize foreign citizenship granted to people who were born in Iran. Under Iranian law, they are still citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran and therefore subject to its judicial system.
