Rarely do I post articles or news stories these days, but the following piece, written by Syed Shariq, a Muslim analyst of the Middle East, articulates precisely what we’ve been expressing on this blog for years now. Several years ago, this type of talk was derided as lunacy.

Spreading throughout the region like a wildfire, they have led to the ousting of decades-old dictators (Egypt, Tunisia), to widespread civil strife (Yemen) and repression (Syria), and to civil war and foreign intervention (Libya).
